in downtown Chattanooga on Main Street, "Conga" offers fresh, delicious, and traditional food from El Salvador.
The restaurant is owned by the warm and friendly Doña Eva who cooks much of the food herself. Well known for their delicious pupusas (a distinctively Salvadoran dish similar to thick corn tortillas stuffed with cheese and several potential ingredients), Conga also serves dishes which may be more familiar to admirers of Mexican food such as Carne Asada and Tamales.
You can refresh yourself with a Horchata (rice milk with cinnamon) or Tamarindo (the juice of the Tamarind tree) or Jugo de Mango. We like to visit Conga on Saturdays, when Doña Eva prepares her famous “Caldo de Pollo” (Chicken soup). Conga also serves favorites such as quesadillas, rice and beans, and french fries for the less adventurous eaters in your life. For those with a sweet tooth, try the “platanos fritos” (fried plantains). ¡Buen Provecho!
