Ayer los partidos entre grupos en la Copa del Mundo comenzó con dos empates del grupo A. Hoy vi jugar Corea del Sur y Argentina en el grupo B-- una victoria cada uno. Fui al centro a reunirme con algunos amigos para ver el primer juego del grupo C, entre los Estados Unidos e Inglaterra, dos equipos que no se habian jugado desde hace sesenta años. El partido terminó en empate tambien despues de mucho esfuerzo de los dos equipos. Tengo qua admitir que aunque habia algunas personas en el restaurante mirando el partido con nosotros, el ambiente no era ideal. Estoy emocionado por la copa del mundo este año en Sudáfrica y creo que el espectáculo ha sido—bueno--espectacular. Será interesante ver cómo ressponden colectivamente los que se reunen para ver a la seleccion nacional del EE.UU. en Chattanooga, Tennessee, y tambien ver jugar en un par de semanas la seleccion de España jugar en Salamanca, España. Echale pa’lante, mundo!
Yesterday the group stages of the world cup began with two draws in group A. Today, I saw a win each for South Korea and Argentina in group B. Later, I went downtown to meet some friends to watch the first game in group C between the United States and England—two teams that had not played each other for sixty years. That game ended in a tie as well, after much effort on both sides. I do have to admit that though there were a few fans in the restaurant where we watched the game, the atmosphere was pretty sedate. I am excited about this year’s world cup in South Africa and have great expectations for the spectacle. It will be interesting to see how the collective responses to the national teams compare—watching the US play in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and watching Spain play in Salamanca, Spain. Go world!
